HISTORY

José Ignacio Maturana with his brother Sebastián and his family decided in 2010 after the great earthquake that affected Chile, to start a passion for the production of wines of exceptional quality, which are unique, that represent a way of life and how to keep intact the conditions of where our grapes come from. MATURANA WINERY is one of the most awarded boutique wineries in Chile this last time, receiving awards such as “Best Wine Project of the Year and the Most Innovative Vineyard of the Year 2017” prize awarded by the circle of gastronomic chroniclers and wine journalists in Chile.

Our strengths are INNOVATION, DIFFERENTIATION, QUALITY, PASSION, RESCUE OF HERITAGE AND FAIR TRADE.

Our project born with the purpose of obtaining the best grapes from places that meet their own natural conditions to obtain wines with a unique identity and high quality. Vineyards from places with a strong heritage and peasant family farming focus.

We have a strong commitment to publicize the old existing vineyards in the central area of Chile, which date approximately from 1910 with heritage strains such as El Pais, Torontel, Semillon, San Francisco, among others.

These vineyards that have belonged for several generations to families that have been invaded by intensive crops such as pine and eucalyptus are reluctant to abandon their place of origin and continue to produce grapes with unique socio-cultural qualities.

Our support in managing the vineyard in a natural way such as responsible payment (fair trade) per kilo of grapes at more than 5 times the price per kilo of market (large companies set the purchase price to small farmers in peasant agriculture and that some Sometimes this price is below the cost of production and this makes the heritage strains, the Chilean wine heritage is in danger of extinction) give strength to create a concept of horizontal growth, where it joins the producer of heritage vineyards, the producer or processor of these grapes and the commercialization of these wines in different countries of the world.
